青年组织

The motivation behind this project is to guide youth of color to foster creativity within community engagement. 青年组织 is a youth civic engagement initiative based on the principles of community organizing, 股本, 以及社会公正. YO draws on talents of marginalized students of color who are exploring the dynamics of using their voice to organize for social change. In YO, we work closely with youth in the Socially Just Education class at Dr. 马丁·路德·金. Early College (DMLK) to identify, 研究, 和 act on issues that directly impact the youth in their communities. We visit the class weekly 和 facilitate this process for students based on the YO curriculum that draws on the traditions 和 diversities of youth organizing 和 youth participatory action 研究.

DU Teams also engage in 研究 on the impacts of this process 和 action on youth 和 community members. We will facilitate 和 support youth participatory action 研究, in which youth will select an issue, 研究问题, design a plan to address 这个问题, 并对这个问题采取行动.
